Backing Up Your Pictures
Client Insights...
IMPORTANT!
Don't let this happen to you!
Save and Backup your personal pictures.
As a photographer, I get to hear the horror stories from clients, friends and relatives about personal lost files and images. Some situations involve crashed hard drives and others just lost or misplaced files. When I hear that someone's crashed computer or hard drive contained three years of their lives... well you get the picture. (no pun intended). This year, one of my clients was planning to back up her phone and like all of us, somehow life got in the way. Her phone filled up to the point of shutting down and could not be turned on or any of the images recovered as of yet. This was one of the best phones on the market-so you see these things can happen. Please do not let this devastating story be yours.
I would like to help you get a routine that you use to keep track of and back up your very precious snapshots.
1-Unload camera or card often and subscribe and use a cloud type back up.
My I-phone images back up automatically to I-Cloud. Do not depend on this solely as your back up system though as images can be easily deleted by accident on one device which does it on all depending on your settings.
2-Rename your picture files with the date-then an identifier and sequence #:
201225_holiday_001 (year/month/day-keeps them in order)
3-Back-up your images to a USB flash drive- They are relatively inexpensive and have a lot of storage space. They do not take up much space and can be easily stored at another location or safety deposit box.
This allows you to have them stored in 2 places your computer or cloud storage and a flash drive.
4-choose your favorite images from each and print them! Make an album or a book so your children and family can easily look through them and enjoy.
If you need more help or have questions, please call me anytime.
