As more and more schools have either dropped arts from their curriculum or severely cut back, it is more and more important that parents and grandparents fill those gaps. Whether it is through arts and crafts at home or signing the children up for outside art classes or camps, art needs to be part of growing up. Those of us that live in Northern Illinois have two of the best Art museums in the country. For me, here in Spring Grove, I can get to the Art Institute of Chicago or the Milwaukee Art Museum in about an hour and half.
“Kids who grow up making and seeing art—be that visual art, music, dance, theater, or poetry—are not only more empowered to express themselves, they also have stronger language, motor, and decision-making skills, and they’re more likely to excel in other school subjects. And, as they grow up, creativity is an asset for prospective jobs—not just in the arts and creative industries, but beyond it.”

As I try to teach my grandchildren as well as our young clients about art, I am always in search of new ideas and education. I came across a great article @artsy and want to share it as it is fantastic.

Think about how much time parent put into children's sports just to give them the foundations of their chosen sport love. It only takes about 15 minutes a week to watch a You Tube video on doodling or how to draw a cat, etc...
